Israel has announced a temporary pause in military operations across Gaza for Sunday, following mounting international pressure to ease the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided after discussions with top officials, including Defence Minister Israel Katz and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa&rsquo;ar, according to Israeli media.
This move comes as humanitarian groups warn of increasing starvation and critical shortages in Gaza, worsened by Israel&rsquo;s closure of all crossings since March.
Humanitarian airdrops resumed late Saturday evening in northern Gaza, confirmed by both Israeli military sources and Palestinian eyewitnesses.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported that it had recently killed Amjad Muhammad Hassan Shaer, Hamas&rsquo; head of counter-intelligence, in a targeted strike. The operation took place in northern Gaza on Wednesday.
According to the IDF, Shaer&rsquo;s unit was responsible for preventing espionage and protecting top Hamas leaders. The military also stated that dozens of other military targets were hit in Gaza through coordinated air and ground operations.
Despite the Sunday pause, Israel&rsquo;s broader military campaign continues, with future actions likely to depend on both internal decisions and external diplomatic pressure.
