Iran has issued a scathing condemnation of the United States following airstrikes on its nuclear facilities, calling the action a &ldquo;brutal military aggression&rdquo; and a gross violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The strikes, which targeted Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites, have prompted Tehran to demand urgent intervention from the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In a strongly worded statement, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, &ldquo;The US has committed a great crime by attacking peaceful nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards.&rdquo; The ministry blamed the US and its ally Israel&mdash;referred to as the &ldquo;genocidal Zionist regime&rdquo;&mdash;for escalating the conflict and violating UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which endorsed the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
Iran claimed the attacks occurred on the tenth day of Israeli aggression against Iran, accusing the US of "criminal complicity" with Israel.
Calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting, Iran insisted it reserves the right to resist and defend its national sovereignty &ldquo;with all its might.&rdquo;
The statement also accused the IAEA Director General of bias and complicity, stating he provided the &ldquo;excuse for the recent disaster.&rdquo;
Iran concluded by warning that the US, despite its position on the Security Council, has disregarded global norms and enabled lawlessness to advance the interests of its regional allies.
