Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has indicated that an agreement with the United States is within reach&mdash;provided Washington stops using coercive methods in its dealings with Tehran.
During a meeting in Tehran with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Pezeshkian emphasized that the continuation of indirect talks with the U.S. depends on a shift in American policy.
&ldquo;An agreement with the United States is possible, but it requires one key condition&mdash;the end of coercion,&rdquo; Pezeshkian stated, according to a statement from the President&rsquo;s office.
In response, the Qatari Prime Minister reaffirmed Qatar&rsquo;s support for Iran&rsquo;s rights and stressed that past experiences show pressure tactics have not succeeded in negotiations with Iran.
In a separate meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Pezeshkian praised Oman&rsquo;s role in facilitating indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington. He expressed hope that the discussions would lead to a fair and lasting agreement that ensures regional stability.
Since April 12, four rounds of indirect talks over Iran&rsquo;s nuclear program and U.S. sanctions have taken place&mdash;three in Muscat, Oman, and one in Rome, Italy&mdash;with Oman acting as mediator.
