Iran has strongly criticised the Group of Seven (G7) nations for siding with Israel amid escalating conflict between the two countries. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei accused the G7 of ignoring Israel&rsquo;s &ldquo;blatant aggression&rdquo; and attacks on Iran&rsquo;s peaceful nuclear infrastructure, as well as its strikes on residential areas.
The G7&rsquo;s joint statement, issued during the summit in Canada&rsquo;s Kananaskis, labelled Iran as a primary source of regional instability and emphasised that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. They also called for de-escalation, including a Gaza ceasefire.
In response, Baqaei argued that Israel initiated an unlawful war of aggression, violating Article 2(4) of the UN Charter. He urged G7 nations, especially the three permanent UNSC members, to hold Israel accountable.
He further warned that Israel&rsquo;s attacks on Iran undermine international law and the non-proliferation regime, putting non-nuclear states at risk.
Citing destruction of homes, hospitals, and public infrastructure, Baqaei demanded urgent UNSC action and an end to Israeli aggression.
Calling the G7&rsquo;s stance "one-sided rhetoric," Iran urged global leaders to acknowledge Israel as the true instigator of the conflict.
The Israel-Iran conflict entered its fifth day on Tuesday, with Iran launching multiple missiles toward Israeli cities, prompting widespread air raid sirens, including in Haifa and the Golan Heights.
