Amid intensifying hostilities between Israel and Iran, India has relocated its students and citizens from Tehran to safer locations, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Tuesday. Some Indian nationals have also been assisted in crossing the Iranian border into Armenia.
As the conflict entered its fifth day, Iranian missile strikes on Israel triggered widespread air raid sirens across Haifa, northern Israel, and the Golan Heights.
&ldquo;Indian students in Tehran have been moved out for safety through arrangements by our Embassy. Other residents capable of self-transport have also been advised to leave the city,&rdquo; the MEA stated.
Additionally, the Embassy facilitated the movement of some Indians across the Armenia border. The Embassy remains in contact with the Indian community to provide necessary support and will issue further advisories as needed.
Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Iran had urged all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to leave Tehran if possible and move to safer areas. They were also asked to stay in contact and share their location details with the Embassy. Helpline numbers were provided to assist in evacuation efforts.
Meanwhile, Israel has warned civilians in northeastern Tehran&rsquo;s District C to evacuate immediately, indicating a possible military escalation targeting Iranian military infrastructure. The area houses critical government and intelligence facilities.
Israeli forces reported targeting convoys carrying weapons and missile systems moving toward Tehran, signalling an intensification in military operations.
