In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager was brutally killed in Dallas, Texas, following a workplace argument over a washing machine.
The victim, Chandra Mouli &ldquo;Bob&rdquo; Nagamallaiah, originally from Karnataka, was attacked by his colleague, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, at the Downtown Suites motel on Wednesday morning. Both men worked at the property.
According to investigators, the dispute escalated after Nagamallaiah instructed staff not to use a faulty washing machine. Surveillance footage revealed that Cobos-Martinez left the scene, returned with a machete, and launched a violent assault. Nagamallaiah attempted to flee toward the motel office where his wife and teenage son were present, but the suspect pursued and fatally attacked him in their presence.
Cobos-Martinez has been arrested and charged with capital murder. He remains in custody without bond and could face life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty if convicted. Police records show he has prior arrests in Houston for assault and auto theft.
The killing has left the local Indian community in shock. Relatives, friends, and community members have organised a fundraiser to support the victim&rsquo;s family with funeral costs, daily needs, and the education of his son. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday in Dallas.
