The Indian Army has landed in Alaska for the 21st edition of the Indo-US military exercise &lsquo;Yudh Abhyas 2025&rsquo;, a two week long joint drill aimed at boosting combat readiness across domains from mountain warfare to advanced drone operations.
A contingent from the Madras Regiment touched down at Fort Wainwright, where they will train alongside the US Army&rsquo;s 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, famously known as the &ldquo;Bobcats&rdquo; of the Arctic Wolves Brigade, part of the 11th Airborne Division.
&ldquo;An Indian Army contingent has reached Fort Wainwright, Alaska, for the 21st edition of Yudh Abhyas 2025 (01&ndash;14 Sept). Alongside US 11th Airborne Division troops, they'll train in heliborne ops, mountain warfare, UAS/counter-UAS and joint tactical drills, boosting UN PKO &amp; multi-domain readiness,&rdquo; said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a post on X.
A striking image shared by the MEA showed Indian troops assembled in front of the massive C-17 Globemaster III, underscoring the strategic airlift capability at the heart of the partnership.
Over the course of two weeks, the forces will undertake heliborne insertions, casualty evacuation, live-fire drills, combat medical training, and integration of artillery, aviation, and electronic warfare systems. Joint working groups will also address domains such as information warfare, logistics, and drone countermeasures.
The exercise will conclude with high-altitude combat simulations, highlighting both nations&rsquo; commitment to UN peacekeeping operations and enhanced multi-domain operational readiness.
&lsquo;Yudh Abhyas&rsquo; has grown into a cornerstone of Indo-US defence cooperation, strengthening interoperability while reflecting the evolving strategic convergence between the two democracies. The timing of this year&rsquo;s exercise is particularly notable as global geopolitics continues to test partnerships and defence priorities.
