The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have released footage claiming successful airstrikes on two Iranian F-14 fighter jets parked at an airport in Tehran. According to the IDF, the jets were poised to intercept Israeli aircraft involved in ongoing operations over Iran.
The IDF also reported it had preemptively neutralised a drone launch attempt toward Israel. Military intelligence had tracked a UAV team preparing to deploy drones and weapon systems before Israeli forces eliminated the launch cell.
In a recap shared on X (formerly Twitter), the IDF stated: &ldquo;Strike on two F-14 fighter jets in Tehran, intended for interception. Prevented UAV launch toward Israel by eliminating the cell moments before deployment.&rdquo;
The strikes are part of a wider Israeli offensive launched Friday targeting military and nuclear infrastructure across Iran. Among the key objectives hit was a nuclear enrichment site near Qom. High-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists were reportedly killed.
In retaliation, Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles toward Israel, marking a significant escalation in hostilities between the two long-time rivals.
Amid mounting fears of a broader conflict, several Middle Eastern nations have closed airports and restricted airspace.
Iran&rsquo;s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, responded in a televised address, promising harsh retaliation. &ldquo;They began this war. Israel will not escape the consequences of this grave crime,&rdquo; he said, vowing to strike back with force following the death of top Iranian generals and damage to nuclear assets.
This exchange marks a significant turning point in regional stability, with international observers urging de-escalation before the conflict escalates.
