The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that no abnormal radiation levels have been recorded following the recent US airstrikes on Iran&rsquo;s nuclear sites.
In a statement posted on X, the nuclear watchdog said: &ldquo;Following attacks on three nuclear sites in Iran &ndash; including Fordow &ndash; the IAEA can confirm that no increase in off-site radiation levels has been reported as of this time.&rdquo; The agency added that further assessments are underway.
The reassurance comes amid global concerns over possible environmental fallout from the military strikes, which targeted Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan &mdash; key sites in Iran&rsquo;s nuclear infrastructure.
Tehran has sharply condemned the attack. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran denounced the strikes as a blatant violation of international law, while vowing to continue developing what it calls a &ldquo;national industry&rdquo; &mdash; its nuclear programme.
&ldquo;The enemies will not be able to halt our progress,&rdquo; the agency said, referring to the legacy of Iran&rsquo;s &ldquo;nuclear martyrs&rdquo; and the dedication of its scientific community.
US President Donald Trump announced the operation via his social platform Truth Social, claiming the strikes were a &ldquo;historic moment&rdquo; aimed at halting Iran&rsquo;s nuclear ambitions. &ldquo;A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on Fordow&hellip; All planes are safely on their way home,&rdquo; Trump said, adding, &ldquo;NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!&rdquo;
Trump has previously issued Iran a two-week ultimatum to rejoin nuclear negotiations, though Tehran has shown no indication of conceding.
Despite the escalating geopolitical crisis, the IAEA&rsquo;s update has eased immediate fears of a radiological disaster, even as tensions across the Middle East remain dangerously high.
