The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will convene an emergency Board of Governors meeting on Monday in response to US airstrikes on Iran&rsquo;s nuclear facilities, confirmed Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi.
Grossi took to X to announce, "In light of the urgent situation in Iran, I am convening an emergency meeting of the @IAEAorg Board of Governors for tomorrow."
The meeting follows US President Donald Trump&rsquo;s authorization of coordinated strikes on Iran&rsquo;s key nuclear facilities &mdash; Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan &mdash; which sparked fears of regional escalation and raised concerns over nuclear safety and proliferation.
While the IAEA confirmed that no abnormal radiation levels were detected after the attacks, the agency said it would continue to assess the situation and report updates.
Iran has condemned the strikes, calling them a gross violation of international law and insisting its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful.
The emergency session will likely cover the current condition of the affected nuclear sites, Iran&rsquo;s nuclear intentions, and broader implications for global nuclear non-proliferation agreements. Despite mounting international pressure, Iran has vowed to continue developing its nuclear &ldquo;national industry.&rdquo;
