Dozens of soldiers and civilians have been killed in a new wave of clashes along the Pakistan&ndash;Afghanistan border since Tuesday night. Security sources from both nations confirmed intense exchanges of fire near Spin Boldak in southern Kandahar province and across Pakistan&rsquo;s northwest regions.
Pakistan&rsquo;s military reported repelling two Taliban-led assaults on major border posts, killing nearly 50 militants in combined operations. Heavy overnight fighting also erupted in the Orakzai district, where six Pakistani paramilitary soldiers died and several others were wounded.
On the Afghan side, officials confirmed the death of at least 15 civilians and more than 80 people injured, mostly women and children, after mortar shells struck villages near the frontier.
The latest escalation follows last weekend&rsquo;s deadly border conflict, when Afghanistan launched strikes on Pakistani soldiers in retaliation for alleged air raids on Kabul. Both countries have since traded blame for the violence, accusing each other of unprovoked attacks.
The fighting briefly halted after diplomatic interventions by Qatar and Saudi Arabia, but renewed hostilities indicate tensions remain high. Border crossings have been closed amid fears of further violence and civilian displacement.
