At least 19 people lost their lives, and several others were injured after two residential buildings collapsed in Morocco&rsquo;s Fez city early Wednesday. The incident occurred in the Fez prefecture when two adjoining four-storey structures fell during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Local reports indicate that the buildings housed eight families. According to initial assessments, at least 16 people sustained injuries of varying severity. Authorities shifted the injured to the university hospital centre in Fez for urgent medical care.
The collapse comes shortly after demonstrations erupted across Morocco over poverty and inadequate public services, highlighting growing concerns around living conditions in the country.
Search and rescue teams continued their operations around the clock, working through the debris to locate survivors who may still be trapped. Moroccan state media confirmed ongoing efforts to stabilise the site and ensure safety for emergency personnel.
