The footage, which showed the two embracing, was picked up by fans, shared across social media platforms, and rapidly went viral setting off a chain of professional and personal consequences for both.
According to sources close to Byron, he is now exploring a lawsuit on the grounds of invasion of privacy and emotional distress, arguing that he was turned into a global meme without his consent. The controversy has led to Byron&rsquo;s resignation as CEO and Cabot&rsquo;s resignation shortly thereafter, after the company launched an internal investigation into the incident.
