Erika Kirk, who leads conservative youth group Turning Point USA after the assassination of her husband Charlie Kirk, has openly endorsed Vice President JD Vance for the 2028 US presidential election.
Addressing thousands of activists at the America Fest conference at the Phoenix Convention Center on December 18, Kirk declared that she and her supporters would work to get &ldquo;my husband&rsquo;s friend JD Vance elected.&rdquo; Her remarks, widely shared online, were met with loud cheers from the crowd. She later clarified that she was referring to Vance becoming the 48th President of the United States.
Kirk used her speech to energise Republican supporters ahead of upcoming elections, urging them to focus on retaining control of Congress. She emphasised the importance of securing strong Republican majorities in both the House and the Senate to support President Donald Trump throughout his term.
&ldquo;We are building the red wall,&rdquo; she told attendees, adding that ensuring congressional backing for Trump was a key priority. Much of her closing statement was drowned out by applause.
Turning Point USA is a powerful force within conservative politics, particularly among young voters and MAGA-aligned activists. An endorsement from the organisation is seen as a significant advantage for any potential presidential contender, and Kirk&rsquo;s statement has fueled speculation about Vance&rsquo;s long-term political ambitions.
Although Vance has not formally indicated plans to seek the presidency, he has previously said his focus remains on serving as vice president and supporting the current administration. Still, Kirk had earlier hinted that a Turning Point USA endorsement of Vance was being planned.
Charlie Kirk was killed during a Turning Point USA event in Utah in September. A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with the attack, and further legal proceedings are ongoing.
JD Vance, who shared a close personal bond with Kirk, is scheduled to address the conference on its final day, adding further weight to the political significance of the endorsement.
