The latest tranche of the Epstein files released by the US Justice Department has indicated that at least one Indian woman may have been among the victims of Jeffrey Epstein&rsquo;s global sex trafficking network.
Jeffrey Epstein, an American financier, was accused of running an extensive sex trafficking operation involving underage girls and influential individuals over several years. He died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial, in a case officially ruled a suicide. The newly released documents, running into more than three million pages, remain heavily redacted but continue to reveal new details about the scope of abuse linked to Epstein.
Among the disclosures are emails from January 2020 written by American attorney Brittany Henderson, a leading lawyer representing survivors of sexual abuse and sex trafficking in civil cases related to Epstein. Henderson has represented hundreds of victims connected to the financier&rsquo;s network.
In the emails, Henderson discussed therapy arrangements for several of her clients based in Florida and New York. She also mentioned one woman who was living in India and asked whether mental health support could be extended to her outside the United States. The communication suggested that the woman might be eligible for free counselling sessions funded by the FBI&rsquo;s Victim Assistance programme, indicating she was also a survivor of Epstein&rsquo;s abuse network.
The files further confirm that US authorities covered up to six therapy sessions for multiple victims as part of their support efforts.
Separately, the documents also contain a 2009 email sent to Epstein referencing a so-called Indian model based in Dubai. The message included a link to an online video, which is no longer accessible, though the context of the reference remains unclear.
According to the US Department of Justice, Epstein had more than 1,000 victims worldwide. Many of them were minors at the time and were trafficked to wealthy and powerful individuals associated with Epstein. The latest release adds to the growing body of evidence highlighting the global reach of the trafficking operation and the diverse backgrounds of its victims.
