Six people, including a 5-year-old girl, were injured in a mass shooting in Baltimore on Saturday night, local media reported. Gunfire erupted shortly before 8:50 p.m. near Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues, where residents had gathered for an outdoor meal, according to Police Commissioner Richard Worley. One man remains in critical condition after undergoing surgery. Authorities have yet to identify or locate the suspect or suspects.
On the same day, three people were wounded in a separate shooting at Times Square in New York City around 1:20 a.m. All were hospitalised in stable condition. The NYPD detained a 17-year-old boy and recovered a firearm.
The incident follows a deadly shooting on July 28, when a gunman opened fire inside a Manhattan office tower, killing four people, including an off-duty NYPD officer, before taking his own life.
Both latest attacks underscore ongoing concerns over gun violence across the United States.
