Three Indian nationals, including a teenager, have been arrested in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, and charged in connection with a shooting at a residence believed to be linked to extortion-related violence, police said.
Police identified the three men as:

Each has been charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a place under the Canadian Criminal Code.
They were taken into custody after being spotted in a ride-hail vehicle shortly after the early-morning incident, Surrey Police Service (SPS) said. All three were remanded in custody until at least February 5.
Around 3:50 am on February 1, 2026, SPS officers assigned to Project Assurance, a proactive patrol initiative targeting extortion and related violence, responded to reports of gunfire and a small fire outside a home in Surrey&rsquo;s Crescent Beach neighbourhood.
The fire was extinguished by Surrey Fire Services. While the residence was confirmed to be struck by gunshots, there were no reported injuries.
The investigation has been taken over by SPS&rsquo;s Major Crime Section, and police have engaged the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) because the accused are foreign nationals. Authorities have not ruled out further charges as evidence continues to be reviewed.
This arrest comes in the context of a surge in extortion and shooting incidents in Surrey and the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Officials have been actively responding to an increase in violence allegedly linked to extortion demands, including previous shooting episodes involving other Indian nationals.
Last week, police also arrested two other Indian men in Surrey in connection with a separate shooting incident tied to extortion violence.
