The Indian government continues its efforts to rescue citizens trapped in fake job schemes in Myanmar. On Wednesday, 125 Indian nationals were brought back safely from a scam center in Myawadi via a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft, landing in Mae Sot, Thailand.
Since March, a total of 1,500 Indians have been repatriated through Thailand. Many of these individuals had fallen prey to fraudulent recruiting agents promising jobs abroad, eventually reaching Myanmar under false pretenses.
Indian Embassy Issues Warning The Indian Embassy in Bangkok confirmed that all rescued Indians were safely sent back to India via Bangkok. The embassy stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the mission was completed with the support of the Royal Thai Government and various provincial agencies.
The embassy cautioned citizens to verify the credentials of foreign employers and the track record of recruiting agents or companies before accepting any overseas job offer.
Visa-Free Entry Should Not Be Misused The embassy also clarified that visa-free entry granted to Indian passport holders in Thailand is meant strictly for tourism and small business purposes. It should not be used for employment or any illegal activity.
Previous Large-Scale Rescue Earlier, on 6 November, India repatriated 270 Indians who had fled notorious scam centers in Myanmar to Mae Sot using two military transport aircraft. Following operations at the infamous KK Park cybercrime hub in Myawadi, around 1,500 people from 28 countries escaped to Thailand, including nearly 500 Indians.
