Amit Gupta, a Vadodara-based IT professional working in Doha, Qatar, has been detained for the past three months under mysterious circumstances. His family alleges that he is being held in a small, dark cell without any official explanation or legal proceedings.
Gupta, who serves as a Country Head at Tech Mahindra in Doha, has been in the Gulf nation since 2013. His parents and wife, who reside in Madhuvan Society, Tarsali, have been desperately seeking answers and assistance, but their pleas have so far gone unanswered. The family claims they were allowed to meet Amit only once, but authorities have not disclosed any details regarding the reason for his detention.
According to his family, Amit has been wrongfully imprisoned on accusations of stealing company data. Despite repeated appeals to the Indian Embassy and his employer, no concrete support has been provided. His wife has also reached out to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) for intervention, but no response has been received.
In a bid to escalate the matter, Amit's father has written to business tycoon Anand Mahindra, seeking his intervention. Additionally, the family has approached Vadodara&rsquo;s Member of Parliament, Hemang Joshi, urging diplomatic efforts for his release. Joshi has assured them that he will liaise with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Qatar, and the Qatari authorities to gather more information and push for Amit&rsquo;s release.
Meanwhile, Gupta&rsquo;s wife and two children are struggling with uncertainty, anxiously awaiting his return. The case has raised serious concerns about the treatment of Indian expatriates in Qatar and the need for stronger diplomatic action to protect their rights. The family continues to appeal to the Indian government to intervene swiftly and secure Amit Gupta&rsquo;s safe return home.
