A major security scare unfolded in Rajasthan&rsquo;s Rajsamand district after police intercepted a pick-up truck carrying a massive haul of illegal explosives. Acting on a tip-off, officers at Trinetra Circle recovered 981 gelatin sticks, 93 detonators and a 30-foot safety fuse neatly packed in over 100 cartons, enough material, officials say, to trigger destruction within a 10-km radius.
The vehicle, driven by Bhagwat Singh and Himmat Singh, was stopped during a blockade operation. Police said both men failed to produce any mandatory permits required to transport explosive materials. The consignment is suspected to be linked to mining operations in the region, which hosts numerous marble quarries, though investigators have not ruled out alternative angles.
&ldquo;The truck was flagged down based on an informant&rsquo;s alert. The occupants could not furnish documents for the explosive cargo, so they were arrested and the vehicle seized,&rdquo; said Deputy SP Shipra Rajawat, confirming that a criminal case has been registered.
A detailed investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the explosives, and authorities are probing whether the material was part of a larger illegal supply chain operating across mining belts in Rajasthan.
