Security has been stepped up in Puri after threatening graffiti targeting the Jagannath Temple was discovered near its premises. The message, written in Odia, read &ldquo;Terrorist will destroy the Temple&rdquo; and appeared on the walls of the Budhi Maa Thakurani temple, located close to the Balisahi entrance of the temple&rsquo;s Heritage Corridor.
The graffiti also mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s name and included some unverified phone numbers.
Police teams are analysing CCTV footage from the temple and surrounding areas to identify the culprit, with initial clues already in hand. Officials suspect the message was written on Tuesday night. Locals have claimed that a mentally unstable person was seen scribbling in the area over the past few days.
This incident comes weeks after security concerns were raised when intruders reportedly scaled the Meghanada Pacheri, the outer boundary wall of the 12th-century shrine, during the Rath Yatra festival.
Authorities have assured that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness, given the temple&rsquo;s significance and the sensitivity of the threat.
