Chittapur, the constituency of Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, is tense ahead of a proposed RSS march after municipal authorities removed saffron flags and banners installed in preparation for the event. The RSS&rsquo;s request for police permission to hold the march is still under review, prompting protests from local workers.
Officials cited lack of formal approval for the installations during a clearance drive late Friday night. RSS volunteers alleged they had paid Rs 6,000 as advertisement tax and accused municipal authorities of acting under political pressure.
Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka sharply criticized the state government, saying, &ldquo;Priyank Kharge sir, do you think you are the Nizam of Chittapur? If you spew venom against the RSS, you might impress the fake Gandhis. This 'emergency' game won't last long.&rdquo;
Responding to the controversy, Kharge clarified the government&rsquo;s stance, stressing that &ldquo;certain rules and regulations need to be followed. No government premises, public road, or institution can be used for any function without prior permission. No one can march with sticks at their whim and intimidate people. This applies to everyone, including me.&rdquo;
