A massive fire tore through a fireworks manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh&rsquo;s Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district on Wednesday, leaving six people dead and two others critically injured.
The tragic incident took place at a licensed cracker factory in Konaseema, where thick plumes of smoke and loud explosions rocked the area as emergency teams rushed to the scene. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours before bringing it under control.
District Superintendent of Police Rahul Meena confirmed the fatalities. &ldquo;Six bodies have been found. We are verifying the details of the bodies. I think it was a licensed unit only,&rdquo; he said.
The injured workers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials added. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been triggered by mishandling of explosive materials during the manufacturing process.
Local authorities have launched a detailed probe to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether safety protocols were being followed. The site has been cordoned off as forensic teams inspect the remains of the factory.
The incident has once again raised concerns about safety compliance and fire risk management at fireworks manufacturing units across the country, especially ahead of the festive season when demand for crackers surges.
