Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday urged citizens to distance themselves from Sanatanis and the ideological framework of the RSS and Sangh Parivar. He accused them of historically opposing BR Ambedkar and the Constitution he authored.
He condemned a recent incident where a shoe was hurled at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai, calling it a sign that orthodoxy still thrives and must be condemned by all sections of society.
RSS Opposed Ambedkar&rsquo;s Vision Siddaramaiah accused the RSS of spreading falsehoods about Ambedkar&rsquo;s electoral defeat, asserting that Ambedkar himself clarified he was defeated by Savarkar and Dange. He said the Sangh Parivar continues to resist the egalitarian values and vision of the Constitution.
Promoting Ambedkar&rsquo;s Legacy Highlighting his government&rsquo;s initiatives, Siddaramaiah mentioned the establishment of the Ambedkar School of Economics to enable students to follow Ambedkar&rsquo;s path. He described Ambedkar as a matchless visionary whose ideas remain timeless and essential for social reform.
Education Should Be an Equal Right Speaking at the silver jubilee of Mysore University&rsquo;s Ambedkar Study Centre, he emphasised that education must be a universal right rather than a privilege. He stated that inequality stems from unequal opportunities, and access to learning can empower individuals to become scholars and leaders.
Reject Blind Beliefs Drawing inspiration from Buddha, Basava, and Ambedkar, Siddaramaiah urged citizens to embrace rationality and scientific temper. He called for the rejection of blind beliefs and emphasised that social progress must be guided by logic and knowledge.
He also reiterated Ambedkar&rsquo;s monumental contribution to India&rsquo;s democracy, noting that Ambedkar studied global constitutions to craft one best suited to India&rsquo;s diverse society.
