Security agencies have intensified surveillance along the Line of Control and the International Border in Jammu region after fresh intelligence inputs warned that Pakistan has reactivated multiple terror launchpads across the frontier. The alert comes amid a foiled infiltration attempt on Friday, when Border Security Force (BSF) personnel intercepted and detained an armed militant in the Pargwal sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said the intruder was caught with weapons and ammunition during an early morning operation. The attempt marks a continuation of the seasonal spike in infiltration bids that typically occur when visibility drops and winter deployment shifts along the border.
Sources said agencies believe several launchpads across the LoC and IB have become active again, with groups attempting to push militants into Jammu&rsquo;s border districts. In response, the Army, BSF and J&amp;K Police have increased night patrols, enhanced electronic monitoring and tightened checkpoints in key infiltration-prone stretches. Additional quick-reaction teams have also been positioned deeper in the hinterland to prevent any movement after a possible border breach.
The renewed alert follows a series of intelligence assessments this month indicating regrouping of Pakistan-based outfits and attempts to exploit foggy weather conditions for cross-border movement. Security forces have already been conducting anti-terror searches in border-adjacent villages to ensure no hideouts or support networks remain active.
Officials added that despite heightened vigilance, such attempts are expected to continue through the winter, making coordination between central and state forces critical. Friday&rsquo;s interception, they said, underscores both the scale of the threat and the operational preparedness of border troops.
