On 14 October 2025, Shaw posted on X about feedback from an overseas business visitor who expressed shock at the poor state of roads and waste piles near Biocon Park, questioning whether the government genuinely supports industrial growth. In earlier posts, Shaw compared Bengaluru&rsquo;s streets unfavourably to global cities, saying the tech hub should &ldquo;hang its head in shame.&rdquo;
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar countered that Bengaluru requires collective effort, not constant criticism, while Minister M.B. Patil said her remarks were &ldquo;not in good taste,&rdquo; urging her to contribute under Biocon&rsquo;s CSR initiatives. Minister Santosh Lad further asked whether she would also comment on national issues like GST.
In response, Shaw asserted that she seeks basic municipal accountability for road maintenance and garbage clearance, not political confrontation.
Amid the public outcry, the state government has launched a 90-day &lsquo;Mission Free Traffic&ndash;2026&rsquo; plan to repair and resurface 1,600 km of city roads, though recent heavy rains have already damaged freshly filled potholes.
The episode underscores a growing rift between industry leaders and the state administration, as Bengaluru&rsquo;s crumbling infrastructure threatens its global reputation as India&rsquo;s technology capital.
