Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has delivered a sharp warning to Pakistan over its recent activities near the Sir Creek region, cautioning that any provocation will be met with a response strong enough to change both history and geography. Speaking at a Shastra Puja ceremony in Gujarat, Singh accused Pakistan of deliberately reviving the long-standing Sir Creek dispute. He said that even after 78 years of independence, Islamabad continues to create tension in the 96 kilometre marshy stretch of the Rann of Kutch, a strategically sensitive zone adjoining the Gujarat coastline.
He drew attention to the expansion of Pakistan&rsquo;s military infrastructure in the areas surrounding Sir Creek and said these actions reveal Pakistan&rsquo;s flawed and unclear intentions. Singh reminded that India has consistently sought to resolve the matter through dialogue, but Pakistan&rsquo;s approach makes its intentions questionable. He asserted that the Indian Army and the BSF are guarding the nation&rsquo;s borders with full vigilance and any attempt at misadventure will be met with a decisive and unforgettable response.
Singh recalled the 1965 war to remind Islamabad of India&rsquo;s military capability, stating that Indian forces had advanced as far as Lahore and warning that today one route to Karachi also passes through Sir Creek.
The Defence Minister also referred to Operation Sindoor and said Pakistan had made an unsuccessful attempt to penetrate India&rsquo;s defence system from Leh to Sir Creek. According to him, the Indian response not only foiled the attempt but also completely exposed Pakistan&rsquo;s air defence system. He added that this served as a message to the world that India can inflict heavy losses on Pakistan whenever and wherever it chooses.
Sir Creek has long been a disputed boundary between India and Pakistan and its marshy terrain makes it strategically significant for both defence and maritime security. Singh&rsquo;s remarks reflect India&rsquo;s growing concerns over Pakistan&rsquo;s renewed military build-up in the area and underline that New Delhi is prepared to respond firmly to any escalation.
