Russian President Vladimir Putin is set for a packed second day of engagements in New Delhi as part of his ongoing diplomatic visit to India. 
Putin, who arrived on Thursday evening, was received at the Palam Technical Airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a gesture that departed from standard protocol. 
The two leaders shared a car ride to the prime minister&rsquo;s residence, where they held an informal meeting and dinner.
Putin's visit marks his first trip to India since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, underscoring the significance of discussions scheduled over the next two days. 
On Friday, he will participate in the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit with PM Modi, along with a series of ceremonial and bilateral engagements.
According to the schedule, Putin will begin his day with a ceremonial reception at Raj Bhavan at 11 am, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat at 11:30 am.&nbsp;
He will then proceed to Hyderabad House at 11:50 am for official talks with PM Modi. 
The leaders are expected to make press statements at 1:50 pm.
In the afternoon, Putin will attend a business event, and later, at&nbsp;7 pm, meet President Droupadi Murmu. His departure from New Delhi is scheduled for 9 pm.
Putin&rsquo;s first day in India was marked by warm personal camaraderie between the two leaders, who were seen greeting each other with smiles and sharing light moments during their car ride. 
The gesture recalled their previous shared ride in Tianjin, China, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit earlier this year.
The Russian president's visit comes at a time when India is engaged in negotiations with the United States over trade issues, particularly concerning the recently imposed 50% tariffs on Indian imports.&nbsp;
The US has linked part of these duties to India&rsquo;s energy cooperation with Russia.
Responding to criticism over India's purchase of Russian energy, Putin said in an interview, "As for India's purchase of energy resources from Russia, I would like to note and have already mentioned publicly this once, the United States itself still buys nuclear fuel from us for its own nuclear power plants."
His remarks reflect ongoing global tensions surrounding energy trade in the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine.
