In a significant administrative overhaul, the Rajasthan government has transferred 62 IAS officers, including the district collectors of 11 districts. The late-night reshuffle on Sunday saw major changes in key departments like Finance, Home, Industries, and Urban Development, with 21 officers also receiving additional charges.
Among the most notable shifts, senior IAS officer Akhil Arora, who served in the Finance Department for five years, has now been appointed Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Water Supply Department. Aparna Arora moves from the Forest Department to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, while Alok Gupta, earlier Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, takes charge as Principal Secretary in the Industries Department.
Kuldeep Ranka, former Principal Secretary under ex-CM Ashok Gehlot, has been reassigned as ACS of Higher and Technical Education, moved from the Social Justice Department.
Anand Kumar, who led the Home Department since October 2022, has been transferred to the Forest Department. Bhaskar A. Sawant will now head the Home Department as the new ACS. The Finance Department has been handed to Vaibhav Galaria, now serving as Principal Secretary, Finance.
Ajitabh Sharma has shifted from Industries to the Energy Department as Principal Secretary. Known for organizing the Rising Rajasthan Investment Conclave, Sharma&rsquo;s reassignment signals a renewed focus on infrastructure. Debasish Prusti, recently returned from a diplomatic posting in Brussels, has been appointed Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Department.
Tourism Department changes include Rukmini Riar, formerly Commissioner of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation, taking over as Tourism Commissioner. Gaurav Saini, current Skill Employment Commissioner, will succeed her at Jaipur Greater. Meanwhile, Arun Hasija, who led Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation, has been named Collector of Rajsamand.
In Bharatpur, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma&rsquo;s home district, Qamar Ul Zaman Chaudhary becomes the new Collector, shifting from the Water Supply Department. He previously served as Collector in Dausa.
Controversial officer Hanuman Mal Dhaka, previously removed from his role as Dudu Collector following bribery allegations, has been appointed Director, Departmental Investigation. He was earlier accused of demanding a ₹25 lakh bribe for land conversion and had been under Awaiting Posting Orders since April.
The Collector post in Jhunjhunu is now vacant after Ramavtar Meena&rsquo;s transfer to the Departmental Investigation. With the SP position already unoccupied, both key roles in the district remain to be filled.
This extensive reshuffle reshapes the state&rsquo;s bureaucratic landscape and is seen as an effort to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen governance. More appointments are expected in the coming days to address remaining vacancies.
