Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the BJP during the concluding rally of the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Patna, accusing the ruling party of orchestrating large-scale electoral fraud with the support of the Election Commission of India.
Speaking at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park, Gandhi alleged that the BJP manipulated voter lists in states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, overturning democratic mandates. He claimed that in Maharashtra, after the Congress-Shiv Sena (UBT)-NCP alliance won the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, nearly one crore new voters were added to the rolls within four months, which led to the BJP&rsquo;s advantage. Similar practices, he said, were repeated in Karnataka.
According to Gandhi, despite repeated appeals, the Election Commission denied access to crucial video evidence and voter lists. His team independently reviewed the rolls and reportedly found large-scale irregularities.
He warned that similar tactics are being prepared in Bihar, which was the reason behind the Voter Adhikar Yatra, a campaign aimed at spreading awareness among citizens. Gandhi declared that the rally had sent a nationwide message that vote theft is undermining democracy, reservation, education, employment, and the future of youth.
Drawing parallels with Mahatma Gandhi&rsquo;s struggle, he argued that forces threatening democracy and the Constitution today must be resisted. He further underlined that Bihar&rsquo;s youth and women have shown strong support for safeguarding democratic rights.
The rally concluded with a call to unite against electoral malpractice, as Gandhi vowed to intensify his fight against what he called the BJP&rsquo;s systematic attempt to subvert democracy.
