The National Defence Academy (NDA) on Saturday held the convocation ceremony for its 149th course at Habibullah Hall in Khadakwasla, Pune, marking a major milestone for 328 cadets who successfully completed their academic training.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Chairman Ajay Kumar presided over the ceremony as the chief guest and was received by NDA Commandant Vice Admiral Anil Jaggi. The event began with the presentation of the academic report for the Autumn Term 2025 by Officiating Principal Vinay Deep, who highlighted the academic progress and achievements of the graduating cadets.
Out of the total 328 cadets, 216 were awarded Bachelor&rsquo;s degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University. This included 72 cadets from the Science stream, 92 from Computer Science, and 52 from the Arts stream. In addition, 18 cadets from friendly foreign countries also received their degrees, underlining India&rsquo;s growing defence training cooperation with partner nations.
During his convocation address, Ajay Kumar congratulated the cadets on completing demanding training at one of the world&rsquo;s leading tri-services military academies. He also expressed appreciation to parents and families for encouraging their children to pursue a life of service to the nation.
Meanwhile, 112 cadets from the B.Tech stream of the Navy and Air Force were awarded course completion certificates. These cadets will receive their B.Tech degrees after completing an additional year of training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad.
The ceremony also honoured outstanding academic performers. Cadet Kartik Maheshwari of &lsquo;M&rsquo; Squadron topped the Science stream with an FGPA of 8.11, winning the Commandant&rsquo;s Silver Medal and the COAS Rolling Trophy. Cadet Ananya of &lsquo;G&rsquo; Squadron led the Computer Science stream with an FGPA of 8.36, earning the Commandant&rsquo;s Silver Medal and the Admiral&rsquo;s Rolling Trophy. Cadet Anurag Gupta of &lsquo;B&rsquo; Squadron secured the top position in the Social Science stream with an FGPA of 7.44 and received the Commandant&rsquo;s Silver Medal along with the CAS Trophy.
In the B.Tech stream, Cadet Vishwesh Bhalerao of &lsquo;F&rsquo; Squadron topped with a CGPA of 8.05, receiving the Commandant&rsquo;s Silver Medal and the CIS Trophy.
