<h3 data-start="203" data-end="264">Infosys founder couple decline Karnataka caste survey</h3>
Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and his wife, author and philanthropist Sudha Murty, have declined to participate in Karnataka&rsquo;s ongoing social and educational survey, commonly referred to as the caste survey, according to officials from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
When enumerators arrived at their residence a few days ago, the couple reportedly stated that they did not wish the survey to be conducted at their home. Sudha Murty also signed a self-declaration letter refusing to provide details sought by the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission, which is conducting the Social and Educational Survey 2025.
In the pro forma issued by the Commission, she cited &ldquo;personal reasons&rdquo; for not sharing information. Additionally, in a handwritten note in Kannada, Sudha Murty stated, &ldquo;We do not belong to any backward community. Hence, we will not participate in a government-conducted survey meant for such groups.&rdquo;
The survey, launched on 22 September, was initially scheduled to conclude on 7 October, but has now been extended to 18 October. To enable completion, the government has adjusted school timings and declared half-day schedules for teachers involved in the exercise.
Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar said any academic loss caused by the schedule changes would be compensated through extra classes.
As of early October, officials confirmed that about 83 per cent of households&mdash;1.22 crore out of 1.43 crore&mdash;have already been covered across Karnataka.
