Mumbai Police on Friday issued a high alert after receiving a threat call claiming that 34 human bombs carrying 400 kg of RDX had been planted in 34 vehicles across the city. The caller warned of a massive explosion aimed at &ldquo;shaking the entire city.&rdquo; The threat was reportedly made by a group calling itself Lashkar-e-Jihadi, just ahead of the Anant Chaturdashi festival.
Authorities have stepped up security across Mumbai and Maharashtra in response to the warning. According to the message, the alleged plan involved detonating explosives that could kill nearly one crore people.
This is not the first such incident in recent months. Earlier this week, police arrested a 43-year-old man in Thane for making a hoax call about a bomb at Kalwa railway station. In August, the ISKCON Temple in South Mumbai received a bomb threat email, which was later confirmed as a hoax. The temple also received a similar threat again in September.
On July 25, Mumbai Police also investigated a bomb threat call at Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). A thorough search was conducted, but nothing suspicious was found.
With repeated threats in recent months, authorities remain on heightened alert to ensure safety during the festive season.
