In a major anti-Maoist operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh&rsquo;s Sukma district recovered an extensive cache of weapons, explosives, and iron materials meant to target personnel, officials said.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint team of 203 CoBRA Battalion, CRPF&rsquo;s 241 Bastar Battalion, and Sukma district forces from the Mettaguda camp launched a search on Saturday in the forested hill areas of Koimeta, Eerapalli, Botelanka, and Dareli. Around 11 a.m., teams discovered the hidden Maoist stockpile near Koimeta hills.
The recovered items included country-made rifles, a BGL launcher with barrel, explosives, electrical wiring, 480 iron clamps, steel pipes, rods, welding holders, ground supporters, a broken UAV Netra propeller, a black uniform, and ammunition pouches. Officials said these materials were stockpiled to make and plant IEDs to target security personnel.
&ldquo;The recovery has once again foiled Maoist plans to inflict damage on our forces. Anti-Maoist operations will continue across Sukma under the ongoing elimination drive,&rdquo; a senior official said.
The operation was led by 203 CoBRA Commandant Pawan Kumar Singh and Deputy Commandant Praveen Kumar. Teams returned safely without casualties.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a goal to eliminate Maoist insurgency by March 2026. The government has also introduced a surrender and rehabilitation policy to bring Maoists into the mainstream.
