After a chaotic start to the Monsoon Session, Parliament is set for a crucial turn today with the Lok Sabha scheduled to hold a 16-hour debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will initiate the debate, detailing the government&rsquo;s response to the terror strike and elaborating on the military and diplomatic contours of Operation Sindoor. He will be joined by Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who will lay out the broader national and international implications.
Senior BJP leaders, including Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey, will also address the gathering.
On the Opposition bench, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Akhilesh Yadav are expected to lead the charge. The Congress party has issued a whip, asking all its Lok Sabha MPs to be present for the next three days, underscoring the weight of the discussions.
The Monsoon Session began on a stormy note with disruptions over issues like the SIR of electoral rolls in Bihar. However, on July 25, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that both Houses had agreed to prioritise national security debates starting today in Lok Sabha and continuing in Rajya Sabha tomorrow.
