A video featuring Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Qaasim has surfaced online, appearing to confirm that the Markaz Taiba complex in Muridke, Punjab province, was destroyed during Indian airstrikes under Operation Sindoor. The footage shows Qaasim standing among the rubble of the site and acknowledging its role in training militants.
In the clip, Qaasim declares that the facility was a centre where both Mujahideen and students received training. He goes on to claim that many who trained there went on to fight in militant operations. He also calls upon Pakistani youth to join Daura-e-Suffa, a programme described as a combination of religious indoctrination and combat preparation.
The video directly contradicts Pakistan&rsquo;s previous position that the Muridke compound was a civilian complex used for education and welfare activities. Earlier, Islamabad had denied that any terror infrastructure was present in the area. Qaasim&rsquo;s statement challenges that narrative by openly admitting that the site was used for militant training.
Reports suggest that efforts are already underway to rebuild the damaged facility. Reconstruction is said to be overseen by senior Lashkar leaders and is reportedly receiving both financial support and material assistance. Estimates place the cost of rebuilding at several crores of rupees, with part of the funding allegedly being raised through public campaigns disguised as humanitarian drives.
The Muridke complex has long been described as a central hub for Lashkar-e-Taiba operations, serving both as a training ground and as a base for ideological indoctrination. Its destruction, if fully verified, would mark a significant setback for the organisation. However, the group&rsquo;s pledge to restore and expand the facility highlights its determination to maintain its operational infrastructure.
The video has renewed questions about the scale of damage inflicted by Operation Sindoor and the true nature of Pakistan&rsquo;s counter-terrorism commitments. It also draws attention to the possibility of the rebuilt complex becoming operational again, with some reports indicating a target date in early 2026.
