In a shocking incident on Monday, Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai was nearly attacked inside Court No. 1 of the Supreme Court when a lawyer allegedly tried to throw a shoe at him during proceedings.
The accused, identified as 72-year-old advocate Rakesh Kishore, was immediately subdued by security personnel and handed over to the Delhi Police. 
However, he was released shortly after as the Supreme Court registry decided not to file any charges.
According to police sources, Kishore remained unrepentant during interrogation. 
He referred to a recent Supreme Court ruling concerning the javari Temple in Khajuraho, in which a bench led by CJI Gavai declined to hear a plea for reinstalling an idol, stating the matter fell under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). 
Kishore reportedly claimed the court&rsquo;s remarks had &ldquo;insulted his faith.&rdquo;
He also expressed anger over a recent speech by the CJI in&nbsp;Mauritius, where Justice Gavai remarked that India is governed by the rule of law, not rule of bulldozers, and that legality does not always equal justice.
The disturbance occurred around 11:35 am, briefly halting court proceedings. 
Kishore had valid entry credentials, including a Bar Council of India card and a temporary Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) membership.
While no injuries were reported, the incident has sparked widespread condemnation and renewed concerns about security protocols inside the Supreme Court.
