<p data-start="324" data-end="515"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Kaziranga National Park director Sonali Ghosh said that the calf was born on Saturday, and Assam&rsquo;s Environment and Forests Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary chose to name it Mayabini.</span></p>
<p data-start="517" data-end="723"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Zubeen Garg, who passed away on September 19 in Singapore, was scheduled to perform at the Northeast India Festival on September 20, an event aimed at promoting the region&rsquo;s rich culture and heritage.</span></p>
<p data-start="725" data-end="983"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">&ldquo;This is our way of paying tribute to the late singer, who was a passionate animal lover and an advocate for environmental protection. The minister named the calf Mayabini, a beautiful song by Zubeen that continues to touch millions of hearts,&rdquo; Ghosh said.</span></p>
<p data-start="985" data-end="1301"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Sharing the update on social media platform X, Minister Patowary wrote, &ldquo;Heartening news on World Animal Day Kuwari, the elephant of Kaziranga, has given birth to a healthy female calf. With immense affection and public goodwill, we&rsquo;ve named her &lsquo;Mayabini&rsquo;, a symbol of new life, hope and harmony in the wild.&rdquo;</span></p>
<p data-start="1303" data-end="1521" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Kaziranga National Park, one of India&rsquo;s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries, is home to nearly 2,000 elephants, including those from the adjoining Karbi Anglong Elephant Reserve, according to park authorities.</span></p>
