<p data-start="82" data-end="292"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In a heartbreaking incident from Karnataka&rsquo;s Raichur district, a man and his two young daughters died due to suspected food poisoning. The tragedy occurred in K. Thimmapura village of Sirivara taluk on Tuesday.</span></p>
<p data-start="294" data-end="608"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The deceased have been identified as 38-year-old Ramesh, his eight-year-old daughter Nagamma, and six-year-old daughter Deepa. Ramesh&rsquo;s wife, Padmavathi (34), and their two other children, Krishna and Chaitra, are currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. Police sources say Padmavathi&rsquo;s condition is critical.</span></p>
<p data-start="610" data-end="843"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">According to reports, the family, who usually reside in Bengaluru, had returned to their native village four days earlier. On Monday, Ramesh sprayed pesticide on his tur dal crop. After returning home, the family had dinner together.</span></p>
<p data-start="845" data-end="1108"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In the early hours of Tuesday, all family members began experiencing severe stomach pain and fell seriously ill. They were rushed to Lingasagur hospital, where Deepa was declared brought dead. Ramesh and Nagamma succumbed to their condition later at the hospital.</span></p>
<p data-start="1110" data-end="1239"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The incident is being investigated by Kavitala Police Station. Authorities are continuing inquiries to determine the exact cause.</span></p>
<p data-start="1241" data-end="1597"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">This is not the first such tragedy in Karnataka. On March 17, two 13-year-old students from Meghalaya died and 28 others were hospitalised due to suspected food poisoning at an unauthorised hostel in Mandya district. It was later discovered that leftover food from a Holi celebration had been sent to the hostel. Two individuals were arrested in that case.</span></p>
<p data-start="1599" data-end="1843"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Another incident occurred on October 10, 2024, when a five-year-old boy named Dheeraj died after reportedly consuming a contaminated cake. His parents were also hospitalised. The cake was said to be a cancelled order brought home by his father.</span></p>
<p data-start="1845" data-end="2005" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Authorities continue to investigate the latest incident, with growing concern over food safety and storage practices in both rural and urban areas of the state.</span></p>
