A three-member judicial commission arrived in Sambhal on December 1 to investigate the violent incidents that occurred on November 24. The team will look into the causes and circumstances surrounding the riots, including the stone-throwing and attack on police officers. In preparation for the panel&rsquo;s visit, additional security measures were put in place throughout the city. On Saturday, commission members met with Moradabad Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh to gather information about the incident. The inquiry was ordered by the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The three-member panel led by retired High Court judge Devendra Kumar Arora, also includes retired IAS officer Amit Mohan Prasad and former IPS officer Arvind Kumar Jain as members. Formed on November 28, the commission has been asked to submit its findings within two months. Violence erupted in Sambhal on November 24 after a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid, prompted by a petition alleging the existence of a Harihar temple at the site. The clashes led to four deaths and numerous injuries. The survey report, initially due on November 29, has been delayed by an additional 10 days. It is now expected by December 8, with the next court hearing scheduled for January 8. The Supreme Court has intervened, halting the trial court proceedings and urging peace and harmony in the area. The mosque committee has been advised to challenge the district court&rsquo;s survey order in a proper forum. A heavy police presence has been deployed around the Shahi Jama Masjid, particularly during Friday prayers to ensure law and order. While life in Sambhal has largely returned to normal, internet services remain suspended, and the entry of outsiders is restricted.
