<p data-start="353" data-end="600"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Following the exit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, radical elements within Bangladesh have grown emboldened. Intelligence agencies in India now warn of the large-scale revival of JMB, posing a direct threat to northeastern states and West Bengal.</span></p>
<p data-start="602" data-end="903"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The JMB&rsquo;s resurgence is especially concerning because of its reliance on illegal immigrants and refugees as foot soldiers. Intelligence reports suggest that the outfit, allegedly supported by Pakistan&rsquo;s ISI and the Jamaat-e-Islami, is actively involved in facilitating illegal infiltration into India.</span></p>
<p data-start="905" data-end="1315"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In its bid for revival, the JMB is also forging alliances with global terror outfits like Al-Qaeda. While JMB handles on-ground operations, Al-Qaeda&rsquo;s wider reach aids in the rapid spread of radical ideologies. This partnership is reportedly being coordinated with ISI&rsquo;s direct involvement, with several Pakistani officials recently visiting Bangladesh to unite terror factions and streamline their objectives.</span></p>
<p data-start="1317" data-end="1625"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The strategy now seems clear: JMB is being tasked with targeting India, with backing from Al-Qaeda and the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT). These groups have a history of carrying out high-profile attacks, including the 2002 church bombings in Gopalganj and the 2004 strikes on the US and UK embassies in Dhaka.</span></p>
<p data-start="1627" data-end="2002"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Within India, the JMB is believed to be recruiting extensively from illegal immigrant settlements and Rohingya refugee camps. Many of these recruits are instructed to find low-profile jobs in Muslim-majority areas, especially in Bengal, and to avoid drawing attention. Small group meetings are being held at various locations to plan activities while staying under the radar.</span></p>
<p data-start="2004" data-end="2266"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The JMB&rsquo;s presence in India is not new. The 2014 Burdwan blast investigation revealed that several individuals involved in bomb-making operations were illegal immigrants linked to the group. Intelligence agencies believe a similar model is being reactivated now.</span></p>
<p data-start="2268" data-end="2484"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The porous India-Bangladesh border, particularly in Assam and West Bengal, continues to be exploited by these groups. With the current political vacuum and instability in Bangladesh, infiltration becomes even easier.</span></p>
<p data-start="2486" data-end="2780"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">India had previously benefited from strong counterterrorism cooperation under Sheikh Hasina&rsquo;s government. However, with Muhammad Yunus now heading the interim government and perceived to be leaning towards Pakistan, bilateral relations with India have cooled, making such cooperation uncertain.</span></p>
<p data-start="2782" data-end="2957" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">As the JMB regroups and grows bolder, India&rsquo;s eastern frontier faces renewed security challenges ones that require urgent and strategic cross-border coordination to contain.</span></p>
