Pro-Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil on Monday issued an ultimatum to the Maharashtra government, demanding the issuance of Kunbi certificates to Maratha community members by September 17, observed as Marathwada Mukti Sangram Day.
Jarange-Patil, who ended his five-day protest in Mumbai last week after the state passed a resolution to apply the Hyderabad Gazetteer for granting Kunbi certificates, urged the government to finalise the plan without alterations. He warned that village committees should start issuing certificates immediately, and failure to act by September 17 would compel him to take further steps.
He reaffirmed, &ldquo;Maratha children must receive the benefits promised in the resolution. Once implemented, the Maratha community in Marathwada will have full reservation.&rdquo; Jarange-Patil also criticised veteran OBC leader Chhagan Bhujbal for planning legal action against the Gazetteer resolution, warning that any interference could lead to challenges to existing OBC reservations.
The activist expressed confidence that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil will honour the commitment to implement the Hyderabad Gazetteer, ensuring certificates are extended to all eligible Marathas.
Fadnavis had earlier assured that Marathas and OBCs would receive their rightful benefits, emphasising that the Gazetteer entries would determine eligibility and prevent conflicts between communities.
