The Counter-Intelligence Wing (CIK) of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids at 13 different locations across the Valley in connection with the recent Delhi terror blast. The searches targeted the banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and its associates suspected of links to the explosion near the Red Fort.
Officials confirmed that the raids were launched after evidence connected local doctor Mohd Umar from Pulwama to the Delhi blast. His identity was verified through a DNA match with his mother. Umar had been on the run after the J&amp;K and Haryana Police busted a terror module in Faridabad, arresting his associates Dr Adil from Kulgam and Dr Muzammil Ganai from Pulwama.
Another accused, Dr Shaheen Shahid from Lucknow, was detained after an assault rifle was found in her car. Lucknow Police have also questioned her brother in connection with the case.
Investigators recovered an AK-47 rifle from Dr Adil&rsquo;s locker at the Anantnag Medical College and over 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate from Dr Muzammil in Faridabad. All three doctors were linked to Al-Falah Medical College, where the group allegedly conspired.
The Union Home Ministry has now transferred the Delhi blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Officials say the discovery of a &ldquo;white-collar&rdquo; terror network involving medical professionals marks a disturbing new trend in Kashmir&rsquo;s militancy landscape.
The crackdown has also reinforced Lt Governor Manoj Sinha&rsquo;s earlier move to dismiss government employees with terror links, a decision once criticised by parties like the National Conference (NC), which now faces renewed scrutiny.
