INS Sahyadri has arrived at Guam in the Northern Pacific to participate in Exercise Malabar 2025, a major Quad naval drill involving India, the United States, Japan, and Australia.
The Indian Navy said the deployment underscores India&rsquo;s commitment to maritime cooperation, regional security, and interoperability with its strategic partners.
INS Sahyadri, a guided missile stealth frigate designed and built indigenously, stands as a symbol of India&rsquo;s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. The warship has previously taken part in multiple multinational missions and operational deployments.
The Malabar 2025 exercise will begin with a Harbour Phase, featuring operational discussions, planning sessions, communication alignment, and cultural exchanges among participating nations.
This will be followed by a Sea Phase, where ships and aircraft will engage in advanced naval drills including fleet maneuvers, gunnery practice, anti-submarine warfare, and flying operations.
Despite recent diplomatic strains between India and the United States over trade and oil import policies, defence cooperation remains strong, reflecting the resilience of military partnerships within the Quad framework.
Earlier this year, the two nations concluded Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025 in Alaska, one of the largest joint army exercises ever held between India and the US, further cementing operational synergy between the forces.
