Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the much-awaited Indore Metro on Saturday, marking a historic moment for the Malwa region. The launch coincided with the 300th birth anniversary of legendary queen Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, further adding to the significance of the day.
The metro inauguration became a celebration of women&rsquo;s empowerment, with numerous women passengers dancing, chanting patriotic slogans like &ldquo;Bharat Mata Ki Jai,&rdquo; and capturing selfies during their maiden ride.
In a tribute to India&rsquo;s valor and heritage, a metro station has been named after Operation Sindoor, the country&rsquo;s most recent and successful anti-terror mission. The metro&rsquo;s priority corridor will run from Devi Ahilyabai Metro Terminal and include stations named after heroic women like Rani Avanti Bai and Rani Jhalkari Bai, concluding at the Operation Sindoor Metro Station.
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava stated the metro would significantly accelerate the city's development and proudly reflect its cultural pride.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan in Bhopal, delivering a strong message to Pakistan: "Ab goli ka jawab gole se milega" (We will respond to bullets with shells).
He described Operation Sindoor as a symbol of India&rsquo;s courage and resolve, noting that the armed forces dismantled terror camps deep within enemy territory. Modi added that the operation sent a clear global message: India will no longer tolerate proxy wars.
Referring to recent terror attacks in Pahalgam, the Prime Minister emphasized they were attacks not only on innocent lives but on India&rsquo;s cultural fabric. He linked the symbolism of sindoor to divine strength and sacrifice, citing its roots in mythology and tradition.
