IndiGo is expected to operate over 2,050 flights for the second consecutive day on Saturday, December 13, indicating a steady return to normal operations after week-long disruptions across its network.
The airline has been working towards stabilising its schedule following widespread cancellations earlier this month. As per its revised and scaled-down schedule, aligned with government directives, IndiGo will connect all 138 of its operational destinations. The carrier said its on-time performance has remained within its normal standards over the past several days.
Operational data shared by the airline shows a consistent recovery trend. On December 8, IndiGo operated over 1,700 flights with just one cancellation. This improved to more than 1,800 flights with no cancellations on December 9. On December 10, over 1,900 flights were operated with two cancellations, followed by more than 1,950 flights and four cancellations on December 11. The recovery continued on December 12, with over 2,050 flights operated and only two cancellations due to technical issues. Similar operations are expected to be maintained on December 13.
The airline has also issued updates regarding refunds and compensation for affected passengers. IndiGo said its primary focus remains on ensuring refunds are processed efficiently and with urgency. Most impacted passengers have already received refunds, while the remaining cases are expected to be resolved shortly.
IndiGo added that it will identify passengers who were severely affected by the disruptions and reach out to them in January regarding compensation. The total compensation payout is estimated to exceed ₹500 crore and will be provided to customers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure or who were significantly stranded at certain airports.
Meanwhile, the airline has been imposed a penalty of nearly ₹59 crore, which it plans to contest.
With flight operations stabilising and cancellations remaining minimal, IndiGo appears set to maintain its current operational levels as it moves towards full normalisation.
