An IndiGo Airlines flight en route from Delhi to Bagdogra was forced to make an emergency landing at Lucknow on January 18 following a bomb threat received mid-flight.
Officials said air traffic control was alerted to the threat at around 8:46 am, prompting immediate precautionary measures. The aircraft landed safely in Lucknow at 9:17 am.
The plane was carrying 230 passengers, including 222 adults and eight infants, along with two pilots and five cabin crew members.
The threat was discovered in the form of a handwritten message on a tissue paper found inside the aircraft&rsquo;s lavatory. Following the landing, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay where security agencies conducted extensive checks.
All passengers were safely evacuated as bomb disposal units and CISF personnel carried out a thorough search of the aircraft. Authorities said the situation remains under close monitoring and verification procedures are ongoing.
In a separate incident last Christmas, a bomb threat email was received at the customer support address of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport concerning Flynas flight XY 325.
The aircraft in that case also landed safely, with authorities following mandatory safety protocols. Security agencies carried out standard inspections in line with established procedures.
