Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called it a &ldquo;special day&rdquo; in India&rsquo;s journey towards self-reliance and green mobility, as he inaugurated two historic milestones at Suzuki Motor&rsquo;s Hansalpur plant in Ahmedabad.
At the event, the Prime Minister flagged off Suzuki&rsquo;s e-VITARA, the company&rsquo;s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), manufactured in India and set for export to over 100 countries, including advanced markets in Europe and Japan.
&ldquo;At the programme in Hansalpur, e-VITARA will be flagged off. This Battery Electric Vehicle is made in India and will be exported to over a hundred nations. In a big boost to our battery ecosystem, production of hybrid battery electrodes will also commence at a plant in Gujarat,&rdquo; PM Modi said in a social media post.
In addition, the Prime Minister inaugurated the localised production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant, a joint venture of Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki. With this, over 80 per cent of the battery value will now be manufactured within India, strengthening domestic manufacturing and clean energy innovation.
These twin milestones not only mark India&rsquo;s rise as a global hub for electric vehicles, but also reinforce the government&rsquo;s vision of Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, placing India firmly on the map of global green energy leaders.
