<p data-start="108" data-end="335"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Over 33 crore LPG consumers across India are now receiving their cylinders within hours of booking, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri announced on the occasion of World LPG Day.</span></p>
<p data-start="337" data-end="536"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">He credited this efficiency and vast reach to the government&rsquo;s sustained efforts in ensuring clean cooking fuel reaches every household, particularly through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).</span></p>
<p data-start="538" data-end="760"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Highlighting PMUY&rsquo;s impact, the minister said that more than 10.33 crore women have been provided free LPG connections under the scheme, enabling them to shift from traditional cooking fuels to cleaner, safer alternatives.</span></p>
<p data-start="762" data-end="950"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">&ldquo;This transformation has improved health by reducing indoor smoke and has also saved valuable time for women, enhancing their quality of life,&rdquo; he stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).</span></p>
<p data-start="952" data-end="1134"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Puri praised the workforce behind India&rsquo;s expansive LPG distribution network, which now spans from remote villages to major cities, bringing modern cooking fuel to millions of homes.</span></p>
<p data-start="1136" data-end="1273"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">&ldquo;Whether in rural hamlets or urban apartments, LPG is revolutionizing kitchens by making cooking healthier and more convenient,&rdquo; he said.</span></p>
<p data-start="1275" data-end="1581"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The minister also emphasized the Modi government&rsquo;s commitment to shielding consumers from global energy price hikes. While international LPG prices have surged by almost 58%, PMUY beneficiaries continue to receive a 14.2 kg cylinder at a subsidized rate of Rs 553, compared to Rs 853 for regular consumers.</span></p>
<p data-start="1583" data-end="1759"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Proactive government measures, including excise duty cuts and asking oil companies to absorb some cost pressures, have helped keep cooking gas affordable for Indian households.</span></p>
<p data-start="1761" data-end="1939" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Puri added that this shift has also benefited the environment, saving lakhs of trees from being cut for firewood and significantly reducing deaths caused by indoor air pollution.</span></p>
