Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated three state-of-the-art naval combatants&mdash;INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer&mdash;to the nation during a grand commissioning ceremony at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. This historic event marks the first-ever simultaneous commissioning of a destroyer, a frigate, and a submarine, all designed and built in India, showcasing the prowess of indigenous maritime capabilities.
Addressing the audience, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of the occasion, coinciding with Army Day, and paid tribute to the brave warriors who dedicate their lives to safeguarding the nation. &ldquo;Today is a monumental day for India&rsquo;s maritime legacy, the glorious history of the Navy, and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan,&rdquo; he remarked. He also acknowledged the contributions of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who envisioned and strengthened India&rsquo;s naval force centuries ago.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the achievements of the Navy in aligning with India&rsquo;s aspirations for self-reliance. He commended the Indian Navy for adopting symbols that reflect India&rsquo;s rich heritage, including the redesigned Admiral rank epaulettes inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. &ldquo;The commissioning of these indigenous platforms is a testament to the Navy&rsquo;s commitment to Make in India and a step forward in freeing the nation from symbols of colonialism,&rdquo; he said.
INS Surat is a stealth-guided missile destroyer, INS Nilgiri is a frigate equipped with advanced technology, and INS Vaghsheer is a state-of-the-art submarine with exceptional underwater capabilities. The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of all stakeholders involved in their development and congratulated the citizens of India on this remarkable achievement.
